An introduction from the school:
Our playground was initiated, planned and built by our P&C. It took 6 months from deciding we would build one to finishing it. We had a contact who was a landscape architect so he designed the main play area at a small charge of $200 and the parents did the rest. We held 2 busy bees and were fortunate to have skilled parents who could build a tree fort and had access to machinery so the large tree trunks could be moved. A lot of the materials were donated (tyres, tree trunks, bolts, screws, cement, mulch and gravel) and our major cost was the cement tunnels. Our total cost for the playground was only $5000. We had a visit from KidsSafe WA prior to planning and building the playground so I could ask questions and ensure we met the safety regulations. I am the P&C Secretary and I coordinated the project and am happy for people to contact me to ask questions.
