Note: This conference DVD includes Maggie’s popular ‘Dear Little Boys’ seminar also available individually to watch online.

Four hours of presentations for anyone who lives or works with boys featuring Maggie Dent, Clark Wight and Dr Arne Rubinstein.

For well over a decade we’ve been hearing about how our boys are struggling at school and beyond. They are more likely than girls to go to prison, be illiterate, die young, die at work, be in remedial classes, have ADHD, be disengaged learners, fail university and more.

We are also seeing so many poor examples of masculinity in our society via the news and social media… when such negative impressions dominate how do we show our boys what healthy masculinity looks like?

As parents and educators, we need to do all we can to help our boys thrive.

From Little Boys to Good Men brings together three of Australia’s leading ‘boy champions’ to explore how we can best support our boys from early years through adolescence, in our homes and schools, by building understanding, awareness and potential solutions.

This DVD features four hours of talks that will inspire you and give you tried-and-true strategies for parenting, caring for and educating boys in ways that will help them flourish and shine.

Some praise for this conference:

“This was the best PD I have ever attended. Thank you, Maggie, for your insight into our precious little men. Inspirational!”

“So brilliant! Thank you for sharing such a great insight to raising our boys and opening up the conversation – it was an amazing line up and covered the whole spectrum from 0 to 20 years.”

3 presentations from 3 leading boy champions…

Maggie Dent

Dear Little Boys: Giving Boys a Great Start – Birth to 8

In her session for this conference, one of Australia’s favourite parenting authors and educators and resilience specialist Maggie Dent talks about giving boys a great start, from birth to eight.

A former teacher and counsellor, Maggie – who has four adult sons – draws on current research, common-sense wisdom and her own experience to discuss what boys need at home and at school to thrive.

In the presentation, Maggie discusses many aspects of raising boys including building character, temperament, communication, technology, risk-taking, play, failure, anger, self-regulation, how to discipline boys without shaming them, and much more.

Maggie explores what parents and other ‘boy champions’ can do to help more of our boys shine in our chaotic, confused, rapidly changing world.

Clark Wight

Knowing, Loving & Understanding our Boys – The School Years

Clark Wight is a highly experienced educator who started his teaching career as a 1st grade teacher and has taught at every year level at schools in the US and Australia.

He has worked as a leadership consultant for schools and businesses, and as a conscious parenting advocate and presenter through his Our Boys and Conscious Parenting seminars.

In this presentation, Clark will cover the time in boys’ lives from well before school into their early teens, exploring what is going on in our boys’ heads, in their bodies, with their peers and all of those things they do that make us wonder …. WHY?

For over two decades Clark has seen how schools work from the inside. As a parent of three, he has also lived the experience of seeing school from a different perspective, and understands the social, emotional and societal pressures and expectations for parents and students.

This session will offer a poignant and humorous look at our boys at different stages and what parents and schools can do to foster the essential elements of growing up: resilience, empowerment, reflection and finding their own unique voice and gifts.

Arne Rubinstein

Boys on the Real Man Road

Dr Arne Rubinstein is an expert on Rites of Passage and adolescent development, with 30 years experience as a medical doctor, counsellor, mentor, speaker and workshop facilitator. The programs, seminars and trainings he’s helped to develop have been attended by over 100,000 people globally and are designed to support boys and girls to successfully make a safe, healthy transition to adulthood, with a particular focus on creating coming of age Rites of Passage. The father of two adult sons, Dr Arne is the author of The Making Of Men and the CEO of The Rites of Passage Institute.

Dr Arne’s talk will focus on the time when a boy changes and becomes a young man.

How we parent and support them during this critical period will impact enormously on how they navigate this potentially challenging and difficult time that can effect them for the rest of their lives.

This interactive and entertaining presentation will look at:

  • The difference between how we need to parent a boy and how we need to parent a young man
  • What we can do to keep the best possible relationship with them at this time
  • How to maximise the health of their Personal Identity so that they remain motivated and communicative
  • How to stay in communication even when they are acting out and needing discipline
  • The latest research around adolescence.

More testimonials:

“It was an amazing day. Brilliant speakers who all have a deep love and respect for our boys.”

“My heart swells when I think of the world you all inspire for our boys! Thank you.”

“I feel for the first time I have some real solutions/power to find my way as a man and a father.”
