July 2019 Update:

The Balcatta Primary School P&C have complemented their nature play area with some stunning Jarrah Mud Kitchens – these outdoor mud kitchens were built from scratch by a local family with products donated by families and local businesses. As they say on their FB page:
“We are very proud and excited to see the students were ecstatic to let their imaginations run wild and play with the nature play additions. We believe it is very important for mental health and immunity / wellbeing, to let the children get out in nature and have some fun. It’s also great to see old things being repurposed and reused again. No need to spend a lot of money, when you can upcycle something and help the environment.”

A word from the Balcatta Primary School P&C
At Balcatta Primary School (in Perth WA), the P&C team of school mums are energetic and determined, the Principal is flexible and is keeping up with the times, and the teachers are supportive and enthusiastic.
With very little fundraising money, and some volunteer help, they managed to turn a part of their concrete jungle, into a fresh and exciting Nature Playground.
They have a fresh mindset that we need to take it easy on always saying ‘be careful’ or ‘you shouldn’t do that’… instead, encourage children to assess the risk and make their own informed judgement and decision (within reason), buy saying ‘focus on what you are doing’.
Great going Balcatta Primary School, in helping to grow healthy minds and bodies of our next generation.
